Al ritmo de Petra

Looking to expand on the biographies of trailblazing women highlighted in ELLAS: historias de mujeres puertorriqueñas, Al ritmo de Petra tells the wonderful story of Petra Cepeda, a pioneering force behind the Afro Caribbean bomba and plena music genre in Puerto Rico. Petra was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico to an extremely talented family and she loved to sing and dance. She became an accomplished orator, singer, instrumentalist and bomba and plena dancer, and was tireless in her goal of preserving Afro Caribbean traditions and culture.

Con el objetivo de ampliar las biografías de mujeres pioneras destacadas en ELLAS: historias de mujeres puertorriqueñas, Al ritmo de Petra cuenta la maravillosa historia de Petra Cepeda, pionera del género musical afrocaribeño de la bomba y la plena en Puerto Rico. Petra nació en Santurce, Puerto Rico, en el seno de una familia de gran talento a la que le encantaba cantar y bailar. Se convirtió en una consumada oradora, cantante, instrumentista y bailarina de bomba y plena, y fue incansable en su objetivo de preservar las tradiciones y la cultura afrocaribeñas.
