It is a snowy day and Peter goes out to discover it. He comes out to the street where the snow is piled high and he sees the big kids having a snow fight. He discovers that his feet make tracks in the thick snow and how fun it is to make snow angels.

Caught in a snowstorm, neighboring animals take refuge in Tortuga’s house. At that moment, Tortuga has put water on to boil for a soup she’s preparing. The guests offer her their own ingredients to put in the cooking pot. When they all finally try the soup, everyone thinks it’s the best in the world and, they think that Tortuga has added some special ingredients that they don’t recognize.

On the day it snows, Gabo sees kids tugging sleds up the hill, then coasting down, whooping all the while. Gabo wishes he could join them, but his hat is too small, and he doesn’t have boots or a sled. But he does have warm and welcoming neighbors in his new town who help him solve the problem in the sweetest way possible!

In the icy-cold heart of winter, a little bear wanders through the snow and searches for a home. Where can he go? Each warm place has been claimed, and there is no room for a bear, no matter how little. Suddenly he sees a flickering of light, orange and bright against the snowy ground. It's a house! As Snowy Bear pushes open the creaking door, he feels warmth spread over him. There's a girl by the window who's also looking for a friend, and Snowy Bear knows that he is home.

Late one winter night a little girl and her father go owling. The trees stand still as statues and the world is silent as a dream. Whoo-whoo-whoo, the father calls to the mysterious nighttime bird. But there is no answer. Wordlessly the two companions walk along, for when you go owling you don’t need words. You don’t need anything but hope. Sometimes there isn’t an owl, but sometimes there is.
